Expert and appraiser for damage to plastic components and plastic products
Competent – Independent – Personal
The use of an expert or appraiser is required in various scenarios, e.g. .
- Complaints
- Judicial disputes
- Liability cases
The report then serves to determine the damage, but above all to uncover the causes. These can be caused by inferior product quality, but also by poor handling and processing. In addition, it is of course also conceivable that it is normal signs of wear or force majeure. An experienced appraiser can differentiate between the different scenarios and assess the damage competently and safely.
Many different faults can occur on technical components, foils and coatings, but also on preliminary and auxiliary products, and a lot depends on the properties of the individual plastic parts. These are in turn influenced by factors such as recipe, processing, assembly and operating conditions. The assessor is therefore required to have extensive specialist knowledge combined with many years of experience.

Sound specialist knowledge and many years of experience
As an experienced and competent expert and appraiser for damage to components and products made of various plastics, I provide qualified appraisals for companies, courts, public bodies and insurance companies.
Although I may also examine individual components made of other materials, my specialist focus is on plastics and plastics processing. I have many years of experience and excellent expertise in the fields of plastics, plastics processing and plastics development. In this way, I can advise you professionally in the event of damage to a large number of different products and quickly define concrete and, above all, precise measures so that the problem can be resolved quickly and the damage can then be minimized accordingly.
Conscientious testing
In order to be able to determine and assess the damage to a product or component, I use several proven test methods as a competent plastics expert. The following procedures are primarily used for the preparation of the report and for the material testing:
Non-destructive testing Visual inspection (VT)
The visual inspection is normally preceded by all destructive test procedures and takes place in accordance with DVS guideline 2202.
Tensile, compression and bending test
Those are mechanical tests. Tensile tests are carried out according to DIN EN ISO 527, technological bending tests according to DVS 2203-5.
Checking foils and sheets
A punch is used to remove the test pieces.
Ashing of plastics
With this process, non-organic residues in the plastic are analyzed, such as glass fibers or chalk. For this purpose, the plastic is burned in a muffle furnace, and then the unburned residue is analyzed.
Thin section examinations (microtome)
So-called thin sections (thickness approx. 10 μm) are viewed under a transmitted light microscope with polarized light in order to identify the structure and stresses in thermoplastic materials.

My services
Thanks to my specialist knowledge and expertise, I can offer various services.
For one, I prepare damage reports for courts and insurance companies. Of course, in addition to determining the extent of the damage and the costs incurred, this also involves the question of who is responsible for the damage and who has to pay the costs accordingly.
Another service is the assessment of the quality of plastic products, e.g. components made of plastic, coating of containers and basins with plastics in the area of pressing groundwater, drinking water and wastewater.
As a plastics expert, I am therefore active in the following areas:
- Damage analysis on plastic and elastomer products
- Expert opinion for courts and insurance companies
- Expert opinion for small and medium-sized companies in the plastics industry
- Processing claims and complaints
- Recommendations for material selection and material research
I am excited to help you with your case or project. I would be very happy to get in touch with you by phone or email. Simply describe your problem or project to me and I will then make you a free and, of course, completely non-binding offer.
